Oromia Youth Association Presents ( HAWII) Hope for East Africa.
Fundraising Dinner for the Famine.
On October 8th, 2011, Oromia Youth Association is holding its annual fundraising dinner in order to bring aid to the humanitarian crisis unfolding in East Africa. Many people throughout the world know of the tremendous starvation that is killing millions, specifically in Ethiopia and Somalia. We as the youth have a responsibility to do whatever we can to aid people in desperate need of assistance. We have chosen to hold this dinner as a fundraiser to raise as much as possible, in order to help as much as we can.
This is in fact the worst humanitarian crisis known to mankind. OYA has a history of taking the necessary initiative to bring aid to the crisis that has doubled since last year. However, we do not have enough funds to shoulder the donations ourselves. We want to do whatever it takes to get these people some of the aid they need in order to live another day, but we need your help in order to be successful. This dinner will be a day of hope; a day where at least a few will have enough to sustain their lives. Starvation is claiming millions of lives. Every day, more than 18,000 people die from a preventable cause. For us to take one day out of our lives to help the millions who have no hope is absolutely necessary. As we know, Ethiopia and Somalia are in a state of human genocide and oppression, but this starvation crisis is far beyond what humanity has experienced in the past.
In order for this event to be successful, we need the support of everyone who stands against famine. We cannot accomplish much without the help of the people. We need all the assistance possible, to be a hope for these people who have nothing, and are merely awaiting their worst fate. We want this event to speak for those who are too hungry to speak and we hope to God that someday, they will speak of satisfaction. We admire those people who are struggling, and yet we still have faith that there will be an end to this famine which is killing them. I am sure that you all understand how important and essential this event is for millions of people. Every penny from this event will be given to ARAHA, an organization that is extremely trustworthy and effective, with the highest rate of aiding East Africa. Being that they are the most effective, it is our privilege to work with them to bring aid to the crisis claiming millions of lives. We hope to have as many people as possible attending this event because the more people we have in attendance, the fewer burials East Africa will have.
