The Ethiopian government faced fresh scrutiny over its dismal human rights record on Tuesday at the United Nations during the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process.

The UN event comes amid Ethiopia’s heavy-handed crackdown on peaceful #OromoProtestst and arrests of bloggers and journalists.

Amy Bergquist, a staff attorney for the International Justice Program of The Advocates for Human Rights, live-tweeted the entire sessions as follows.

If you are a member of the Oromo diaspora with information about #OromoProtests,  restrictions on freedom of movement or freedom of speech on protesters, or have other first-hand information about casualities, and you’d like to share what you’ve heard for an upcoming blog post, please contact Amy at abergquist@advrights.org or 1-612-746-4694.
